We knew that “Wandavision” would be a remarkable television series, but not to this point. Despite the incredible solidity of the MCU, if you want to find a flaw in the project, it would be that even in this TV show the cinematic narrative line continues. At one point the editorial line was so connected movie after movie that you had to have watched the previous ones. You could not miss any pieces, otherwise it was really hard to get involved into the story. “

WandaVision” is also part of the now both television and movie universe. It has many references to the saga and these two episodes are directly related to Avengers Endgame. Still, it is amazing how it does not really need of having links with the movies. All the twists of the last two episodes are powerful even without the Marvel Cinematic Universe behind and it is the final demonstration of being a really well-done show.

A colourful utopia of the 70s

As mentioned in the series, every episode is a decade. It started in the 50s, then in the 60s, and finally in the 70s. In each of the first three episodes, there is, besides the sitcom and comedy, an increasingly evident dramatic soul. This progression builds very well because the climax will really capture you. The 70s are again a beautiful utopic world without racism, political reforms, and nothing else. Let’s remember that those are the years of the second feminist wave, with Gloria Steinem and the riots. However, the series does not care and it focuses on set design and make-up, perfectly made. This is a cogent decision with the story because Wanda is the creator of that utopia, of that fake reality that admits just beauty and happiness.

Mourning elaboration

Episode 4 brings light on all the oddities we had encountered, creating a very clear context of what we have watched. Of course, we could have expected these plot twists thanks to the many signals that warned us of control over life in Westview. However, the development is very engaging. Without telling you too much about who is behind these oddities picked up by Wanda and Vision. It was very clear from the premise of the story that “Wandavision” was also a series on the elaboration of mourning.

Episode 4 serves only to shout it with pain, although it is always exposed in a compound and never blatant. Wanda’s pain buries in her utopia that she struggles so hard to create. The real world is increasingly controlling her, and soon it will break her perfect dream. She and Vision had twins and now they make up a family picture even more idyllic for our protagonist. But she knows very well that all this will not last long. Although you are not a fan of the MCU, “Wandavision” is so well built until now that it can do without the MCU to get the viewer involved.

What will happen in the next episodes?

This is a question that all viewers of every satisfying TV series ask themselves. In the case of “Wandavision” it is not easy to give a synthetic answer that illustrates the uncountable theories. If it were to continue to set each episode in a subsequent decade, episode 9 would take us right to 2020, so a choice of this type would be possible. We just have to see what will happen to our favourite Avengers couple. Obviously only on Disney+.
