Why Thanos’ MCU Return Has Made Him so Weak?

Thanos has just returned in Marvel’s What if?… But he seems to be weaker. Why is that so? After Infinity Saga summed up and Avengers defeated the villain in Avengers: Endgame, Marvel Studios decided to bring the Mad Titan back to MCU. Also, Marvel Studios’ return to the small screen after three live-action series is phenomenal.

What is the show What If?… all About?

Does Thanos Have a Point

The series is based on a comic book named What If?… and it includes the happenings of Infinity Saga. It has also visualized how things would be different with very few changes in its details. The second episode’s title was “What If… T’Challa Became a Star-Lord?” and it saw T’Challa become the Star-Lord in place of Peter Quill. Instead of becoming the rival, the Mad Titan joins Yondu’s Ravagers, the same group who helped T’Challa steal the Embers of Genesis from the Collector. In this scenario, T’Challa tries to convince Thanos that they’ve other ways to move their resource. They shouldn’t kill their lives in the universe.

Thanos vs. All Other Opponents: A Strong Competition

During this entire mission, Thanos’ job was to go after Black Order members. They include Proxima Midnight along with Cull Obsidian, both of them were Taneleer Tivan’s workers. Both of them were difficult to capture compared to Thanos’ counterparts from Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.

There came the point in the series where he started to scream in pain, which shocked the viewers. The reason was he’s coped with the monsters like Scarlet Witch, Thor, and Captain Marvel. So, this was undoubtedly the rarest sight for every individual, especially the Thanos fans. Seeing the Mad Titan look so weaker has clearly shown that he’s no longer the conqueror he used to be.

Also, unlike his roles from previous movies or shows, he has provided himself to be in any group. This is another indication that it’s time for others to pay tribute to him for all his services. What If?… has also shown him following someone else’s orders rather than being the leader. In this way, he feels more relaxed and free of the responsibilities of win or loss. He and his daughter fought well to defeat the Black Order, which shows that they share a strong bond.  His daughter Nebula doesn’t seem to be happy with her father’s weakness, but that’s how it goes.

What Will be the Future of Thanos in MCU?

Thanos looked entirely different in What If?… than what he was in Avengers: Endgame and Infinity War. This might be the last time we saw the great hero in an MCU movie. However, there are so many things that are yet to be known about his character. This is probably the reason why they have shown him weaker and older. However, fans will still love to see his presence in the upcoming shows.
