Vegeta’s ultimate desire in Dragon Ball Super is to become the God of Destruction. He was one of those Saiyans who ran wild across the galaxy and conquered the world. He desired enough power to get rid of Frieza before visiting earth to find the Dragon Balls. But Goku’s interference in all this has made Vegeta realize the importance of his personal life as well. He got married and has children now, and he’s fighting his enemies with more grace and honor.
Apart from Vegeta’s desire, Dragon Ball Super has also hinted that Vegeta will replace Beerus as the God of Destruction. Vegeta and Goku seem to be the only two contenders to replace Beerus. Both of them are studying under Whis. But the fact that Goku is a kind-hearted person lessens his chances to be the God of Destruction. So, there is a straightforward way for Vegeta now. Toppo, one of the Saiyans, mocked Vegeta for his desire, for which Vegeta proved himself by beating him later.
The Dragon Ball Super is even more apparent now because Beerus has taught Vegeta specific techniques. He also gifted Vegeta the earring which he and other Gods of Destruction used to wear. So, there is clear evidence that Vegeta is going to be the next God of Destruction.

What Will Happen if Vegeta bcomes the God of Destruction?
If Vegeta becomes the God, he’ll complete the long redemption arc of the Saiyan Prince. Vegeta had been apologetic and sacrificial throughout his life. Apart from training a young trainee in Cabba, he protected New Namek’s people. He has done some of the wonders for which he’s the first and ultimate choice to be the God of Destruction. Moreover, he won’t let any tragedy happen again with his people.
The foremost duty of a God of Destruction is to keep the check and balance and save the planets. The world is full of enemies who don’t want the peace of these planets. The irony is the person who used to terrorize innocent people will defend them by becoming their God.
Vegeta and His Counterparts
For so many years, the only thing Vegeta wanted to happen was to surpass his counterpart Goku. All of us know that this will never happen. Vegeta will take the responsibilities of the God of Destruction soon and will have a target in his mind. Otherwise, he just used to think of beating Kakarot, which was a purposeless thing.
