Review of Blood Red Sky: The Perfect Match for Thriller-Lovers

The recently released Netflix movie Blood Red Sky has fused two genres in the best way. This has led to something unique and exciting, especially for those who like thrillers more. The movie has blended action with some supernatural horror to bring something that isn’t quite common.

Blood Red Sky: How Does it Go?

The movie starts with some action-thriller storyline which is not new. It then shows a premature boy who knows how to take good care of his sick mother. It feels like you’re watching an ordinary movie or a TV show with some characters doing their job.

He and his mother face some problems before going abroad for medical treatment. Later, it is shown that his mother isn’t sick; she’s a vampire. All she wants is to save her son from the hijackers who have just attacked their flight.

Peter Thorwarth is the director of this German Film, with Stefan Holtz as the co-writer. Peri Baumeister has played the mother’s role as Nadja, and Elias (played by Chidi Ajufo) is her son. As Nadja comes to know about the danger her son’s life is in, her humanity vanishes, and she calls her inner monster.

On the other hand, Elias feels like his mother is in danger and thinks of saving her. Both of them do all this while staying away from hijackers.

The understanding between both of them is the highlight of the movie. The best way to feel things is to watch the Film in the German language with English subtitles. Otherwise, you’ll lose the entire charm because you won’t get to know their emotions. Setting this movie on an airplane was a suitable choice, considering they have no other way to escape.

The reason for the airplane to be hijacked isn’t apparent. However, it seems like a robbery or a terrorist attack to let the country’s stock market down. As the movie goes forward, it starts focusing more on horror elements. Another addition to the controversies is that people are afraid of Nadja. She may also infect others, which will create a zombie apocalypse, even though her intentions are clear.

The first part of the movie is thrilling, especially after the transformation of Nadja. Moreover, some scenes aren’t that scary, making the fans feel like Blood Red Sky isn’t horror. But the content is good enough, which is required for a movie like this.

Flaws in Blood Red SkyIn order to make the storyline engaging, the second part of the movie is a bit horror. This two-hour movie feels like you’re watching a 5-episode series that has a few flaws as well.

Starting well and doing the same till the end is an art that is lacking in Blood Red Sky. Some of the characters needed to be developed properly as well. However, fans are still loving it, which is all the movie needs at the moment.
